The Glass House Mountains

Loksins fór ég í smá göngu! Við fórum smá grúppa af krökkum til The Glass House Mountains sem eru bara í hálf tíma frá Sunny Coast og gengum upp á eitt að "fjöllunum" þar. Þau mynduðust við eldgos fyrir milljóna ára og standa bara svona ein og sér upp úr láglendinu. Útsýnið var rosalega flott en ég verð nú að viðurkenna að ég hélt að þetta yrði meiri ganga. Tók okkur ekki nema hálf tíma á toppin. Veðrir var yndislegt og þetta var frábær dagur. Við Lina vorum vel undirbúnar með nesti og alles...en borðuðum það bara þegar að við komum heim ;-)

Endlig tog jeg på en lille vandretur! Vi var en lille gruppe der tog til The Glass House Mountains der er kun halv time fra The Sunny Coast og vi gik op på en af "bjergene". De blev dannet af vulcanisk udbrud millioner af åre siden og de står alene som pikke op fra landskabet. Ret smukt kan jeg fortælle. Nå men vi på Ngung der skulle tage 2 timer men tog kun en halv time tror jeg og jeg må nu indrømme at jeg regnede med lidt hårdere tur... Lina og jeg var rigtig godt forberedt med madpakke som vi spiste da vi kom hjem.. hi hi. Vejret var rigtig smukt og udsigten rigtig dejlig :-)
Þetta er Beerwah sem verður næsta viðfangsefni, hærra og meira klifur! YES!

Já ég varð að fara út á brún, voru 50 metra þverþnípi, ferlega cool!

The Grey Bastard

Langaði aðeins að sýna ykkur bílinn minn...eða okkar! Elke vinkona og ég fengum þessa yndislegu Hondu í gjöf. ´85 módel og alveg örugglega ljóstasti bílinn á svæðinu. Hann lítur út fyrir að vera að detta í sundur, en gengur alveg ótrúlega vel og við elskum hann heilshugar! Rosalega gott að geta farið hvert sem er án þess að hafa áhyggjur að strætó og slíku veseni! Við köllum hann "The Grey Bastard" en aðallega er hann bara yndið okkar :-)

Det er vores dejlige bil. Jeg og Elke, min veninde, fik den i gave og vi deler den her vidunderlige Honda ´85. Den ligner et vrag, og er helt sikker den grimmeste bil i området...men den kører sgu ski... godt. Vi kalder den "The Grey Bastard" men den er vores lille engel og tager os hvor som helst. Det er utrolig forskel at have bil her og vi føler os mere fri end tidligere og prøver at tage på ture så ofte vi kan.

Finally Internet

7:30 fimmtudagsmorgunn, torsdag morgen

Jæja nú gafst ég upp. Varð að fá nettengingu! Þannig er að í skólanum fáum við ekki ótakmarkað internet, en það var smá trikk sem að við gátum notað og þá verið á netinu eins lengi og við vildum. En því miður komust þeir að þessu í skólanum og tókst að loka á trikkið okkar svo ég komst ekki á netið í nokkra daga! Það er auðvitað ekki hægt!

Annars allt gott. Búið að vera frekar mikið að gera hjá mér síðustu vikurnar. Núna bara ein vika eftir í skólanum og svo prófatími. Verð í prófum til 20. júní á verð þá í mánaðarfríi. Hann verður örugglega fljótur að líða.

Það er farið að kólna aðeins hérna. Sólin er þó búin að skína og lítið búið að rigna, en er farið að verða hálf kalt á kvöldin og á nóttinni (peysuveður..hehe) En tréð okkar, sem ég man ekki hvað heitir núna, er að missa öll blöðin sem er svo fyndið þegar að það er ennþá að blómstra.

Nu gav jeg op. Computer-gutterne i Uni fandt ud af vores internet triks så jeg kunne ikke logge på i nogle dage. Det er sådan at vi har begranset internet på skole, men op til næste uge virkede det at logge på med et lille triks og så kunne vi bruge lige så meget vi ville. Ja så nu kommer jeg nok til at blogge lidt mere ;-) Super dejligt at logge på her i dag...hahaha.

Ellers går det godt. Jeg har haft det travlt de sidste par uger og brugt lang tid på Uni. Nu er der kun en uge tilbage og så eksamener. Jeg bliver færdig 20. Juni og så har jeg en måneds ferie. Det bliver rigtig godt.

Det er ved at blive lidt koldere her over. Regner ikke så meget mere men har været solrigt men lidt koldt om aftenen og natten. Vores træ (nu kan jeg ikke huske hvad det hedder) har ikke så mange blade længere, men blomstrer dog stadig.

Sidste onsdag tog jeg til Brisbane og rockede med The Foo Fighters! Super sjovt!

Sól og blíða

Frábært veður. Nenni varla að hanga inni, en ég er nú búin að dekra við sjálfa mig um helgina svo það er ekki annað að gera en að gera eitthvað af viti. Veðrið er svakalega gott og búið að vera í marga daga. Eitthvað um 25 gráður og sól. Sjórinn enn heitur, frábært. Fór aðeins að surfa um helgina, stóð upp í nokkrar sek.....

Takk fyrir að skrifa stelpur....allar vinkonur of frænkur! Það er alltaf gaman að heyra í ykkur heima. Og Sigga þú verður að fara að drífa þig á facebook, ég er komin í klúbb: 6L...!!!!

Annars allt gott að frétta. Lítið búin að gera annað en húsverk og ritgerð. Ekkert sérstaklega spennandi. En þetta verður bráðum búið í bili...eftir 2 daga. Þá skila ég ritgerðinni og Elke vinkona útskrifast. Þá sé ég hvernig þetta verður hjá mér eftir 2 ár :-) Það verður gaman hahaha

Fyrsta jobbið

Jæja nú er ég búin að vinna í fyrsta skipti í Ástralíu. Fór og plantaði jarðaberjum í gær í 2 1/2 tíma. Það var nú alveg nóg í bili, svona fyrir bakið....hahaha...aumingja liðið sem gerir þetta í nokkrar vikur í einu! En það var gaman að vera haugadrullug og þreytt. Elska skít... eins Siggi Sigurjóns í Dalalífi...guð hann var svo fyndinn!

Jæja annars ekkert, er í ritgerðarskrifum.

UNI

Hæ hæ, lítið að frétta. Búið að vera nóg að gera hjá mér í skólanum. Svo engar sérstakar fréttir. Fór samt og kafaði hérna um daginn við skipsflak. Það var nokkuð geggjuð upplifuð. Það var þónokkur öldugangur sem ég er ekki vön þegar að ég hef kafað svo ég var svolítið nervuuuuussss þarna í fyrstu ferðinni. En númer tvö var geggjuð og við fórum meira að segja inn í flakið sem var geggjað. Ég ætlaði varla að þora en tókst að sigrast á því...

Enn á lífi

Halló halló....enn á lífi en bara ekkert internet! Við vorum svo heppnar í nýju íbúðinni að við gátum loggað okkur á þráðlaust net, sem er búið að loka núna og við erum ekki ennþá búnar að finna nógu góðan díl fyrir okkur. Þessi sænska er algjör djöfull í download-um og þarf alveg fullt af gígabætum! Annars er allt gott. Var hálf lasin í páskafríinu sem var frekar lummó.
En góðu fréttirnar eru að ég er búin að eignast bíl!!! Ég og Elke (þýsk) fengum gefins bíl, Hondu ´85! Gengur vel, þarf samt að skipta um alternator (hvað sem það nú er á íslensku) og þá er hann í toppgír! Er samt án efa einn af ljótustu bílunum hér á ströndinni...hehee...en það er allt í lagi. Við ætlum að eiga hann í sameiningu og vonandi gengur það allt saman vel

Ég fæ vikufrí í næstu viku frá skólanum, en verð frekar busy. Fullt af verkefnum sem þarf að skila eftir fríið.

Hejsa Danmark! Jeg er stadig i live men har bare ikke noget internet længere! Vi var så heldige at kunne logge på trådløst net, mulighvis hos naboen, helt gratis.....men det er låst i nu!!! Vi har ikke fundet noget andet i nu, men arbejder på det. Jeg savner det godt nok meget!!! Jeg var lidt syg i påskeferien som var kedeligt, men fik påskeæg fra Island uge senere så vi flyttede påskene om en uge! Men de bedste nyheder er at jeg og min veninde Elke fik en bil i gave tidligere på ugen. Det er en gammel Honda i god stand, skal lige skifte altinator (ved ikke helt hvad det er på dansk) og så kører den som perfekt!!! jubiiiiiiiiii Nu kan jeg gøre hvad jeg vil!

Útsýni....

Jæja nú er ég flutt í nýju íbúðin og við erum svo smátt að koma okkur fyrir. Fórum í Ikea og fylltum upp í einn lítinn sendiferðabíl af því ódýrasta sem að við fundum. Þegar að allt var komið upp gerðum við okkur grein fyrir því að allar mublurnar eru gráar....svo það er næsta verkefnið að koma inn einhverjum litum!!!

Okkur líður voða vel hérna. Staðsetningin er góð og gott pláss. Risa svalir sem að við notum óspart og útsýnið er æði.

Uni er byrjaður, afar rólega svona fyrstu vikuna en mér líst ágætlega á fögin og hlakka bara til!

Nu er jeg flyttet ind i den nye lejlighed og har det rigtig godt. Er ved at føle mig hjemme her og tror at det bliver god tid her. Placeringen er god og udsygten dejlig.

Den var helt tom da vi flyttede ind og vi har måtte købe det hele, også køleskab. Sidste uge tog vi en tur i Ikea og fyldte op en van af det billigste vi kunne finde. Fandt ud af at det hele er GRÅT da vi kom hjem....så nu må fi pyndte med alverdens farver så det ikke bliver for trist!

Uni stardede i denne uge, lige så stille og roligt. Jeg er positiv og tror at det bliver sjovt semester og glæder mig. Lidt underligt at være "en af de gamle" på Uni, og så snakker jeg ikke om alder! Mange af mine venner er taget hjem og jeg savner dem lidt. Heldigvis har jeg dog mange tilbage men det er stadig syndt når de gode tager hjem...

Moving

I will be moving down to Mooloolaba next week to a three bedroom unit, with Lina and Aurélie. We are all pretty excited and I'm so looking forward to living by the beach. As you can see it will only take about 15 min. to walk so I guess I go swimming and surfing more often this semester :-)

I also bought a surf board the other day, finally! So I'm oficially a surfer chick now :-) Went surfing the other day and manage to stand up twice for maybe a second at a time..hihihi

Tomorrow I will go with Caroline to Brisbane to see a concert with John Butler Trio. A cool Aussie band! Then I will go to the Gold Coast to see one of my German friends before she leaves home.

Then it is time to find furniture. Most of the houses for rent here are unfurnished, even without a fridge!!! So we have to start from screch and buy everything! I will post photos when we are settled in :-)

More travels

Next stop was Red Rocks, a tiny litle dot on the map! Not many people know about this place it is so small, but they are all Australians and come here for the holidays year after year. We were so lucky to get a cabin for the night! There was no supermarcet at the place, no restaurants just a litle local kiosk.....BUT there was a liquor store!!! So we got our red wine and beer :-) It was really nice going to the small, quiet beach the morning after and take a dip!

After Red Rocks we went to Byron Bay, which I love. The laid back atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. There we went to the most easterly point in Australia, where the view was great. We walked down to Julian Rocks which was good exercise for lazy tourists...hehehe..

The next stop was Sunshine Coast where we stayed at Mooloolaba and it was so great to be back "home"!!! I showed S&E Varsity, where I lived last semester and the Uni. Unfortunetely the Uni was closed so we couldn't see anything on the inside. But they got a pretty good feeling about the life at Uni.

We held Christmas in Brisbane. A litle bit different from our usual style, I must say, but interesting nevertheless. Some friends sent me christmas decos so we tried to make our hotel room a litle bit cosy...and our alternative Christmas tree...!!! But mom brought of course the most important things: Laufabraud and Noa Chocolate mmmm so we had real Christmas despite the heat.

Next days we wandered around in Brisbane. Nice city but it isn't Paris! This guy was pretty cool, playing Christmas songs on beer botles hihi. Then mom and Eirikur went home to Iceland and I met Cecilia, and we headed down south again in our rental station car... the travelling must go on!

Australia Day

Today is Australia Day and everybody is out enjoying the sun, the bbq, the wafes or the beer! But ms. Iceland sits inside in her litle room and translatets danish to icelandic!!!! Sick or what! No...just so responsable :-)

I found two friends to live with and we've spent the last week in finding-viewing-applying for units and houses for rent. This takes a lot of time, especially because we don't have a car and the busses here are like home in Iceland. They come once every hour, if they come at all! So I decided to dedicate this weekend to working and finishing my scholarship applications!

Here are some more travel stories:

After Hunter Valley we drove off to the east coast and stopped at Hawks nest, where the weather was a litle bit windy and not warm enough to bath! But it was so nice to see the beach and the ocean again. We drove off to Seal Rocks (this photo) which was really beautiful and the area around was nice as well. We ended up sleeping in Port Maquarie which is a nice town for holiday.

In Port Maquaire we saw the nice dolphins jumping and kissing people. You could get in the water with them for 30 min. for $200 and after seeing that I was glad I didn't hop in. Because the only thing people were allowed to do was to pet them a litle bit, hugg them, kiss them and throw a ball to them. So not too exciting!

More travel stories

Hi again everybody. I'm back at the coast now and momentarely living in my old room at campus. I am looking for a new place to stay and the dream is to find something at the beach. I hope it will all work out. I have a lot to do now, so I try to keep occupied every day. On my To Do list is:

• Find a new place to stay
• Make CV and look for a job
• Transelate a Danish book to Icelandic
• Applying for Scholaships
• SURF

But you know how it is when you have "all the time in the world", then sometimes not all that much happens. But I have started the most of it :-)

I got some friends over as well, and met the friends that still are here at the coast. Love beeing back and seeing them all again. Am looking forward to start Uni again, so I'm pretty positive!

About the comments! They come to me first and I have to agree to put them on the site, so thats why you cannot see them as before. I don't even know why, but I like it...

And here comes the rest of my travel story:



Mom and Eirikur came to Sydney couple of days after Henry left to Denmark. They where really excited about beeing here and took probably thousands of photos ;-)

We walked around the whole city and enjoyed the beautiful Opera House and Harbour Bridge, the Rocks, the Botanic Gardens and so on.... We even went to listen to Mesiah in the Opera House which was really cool. 500 people choir which was pretty amazing, but I have to admit that I think it would have been more thrilling in a house with better acoustics. So I guess the story is true about the conditions inside of this georgious house!

We rented a car and went to Blue Mountains, a beautiful National park near Sydney. We arrived in the afternoon and it was raining and really foggy. It cleared up the morning after and it was amazing to see the fog wanish in the speed it did. We did a 2 hour bush walk which startet off with walking down hundreds of steps down an 100 meter steep slope. At the end we took a railway up similarily steep slope and tunnel in the mountain. Pretty cool! We drove around the area and checket out some of the other lookouts. Beautiful place. And the litle towns are so nice and cute, our favourite was Leura, but that was maybe effected by the litle shops we mom got enthusiastic about. I got Australian Christmas balls of a Koala and a Kangaroo ;-)

Then we drove off to Hunter Valley where we tasted some really good wine and chees. The surroundings where beautiful and we had a really relaxing time with a lot of good food! Luxury life travelling with the old folks, I can tell you that!

I'm working on putting more photos in the album and I'll let you know when all the travel photos are there so you don't have to see the same photos over and over again :-)

Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everybody. I'm in Sidney now and yesterday I saw the fireworks over Harbour Bridge! It was pretty cool, but I have to admit that the fireworks in Reykjavik are even better! Nothing compares to the Icelandic madness!!!!

We don't have too many plans for the next week but I will be going home to the Sunny Coast at the 7. January. Looking forward to relax a litle and want to start my search for a place to stay and a place to work as well. ( It is pretty expensive living the luxury life of travelling)

So you here from me soon again.
